Lokugé is a bay area artist with an International background. He creates expressive paintings that invite and engulf the viewer in an abstract vernacular. His paintings capture spontaneous thoughts and are the result of building up and excavating multiple layers of paint that progressively evolve in a conversation between artist and canvas.
Lokugé comes from a family of artists spanning four generations. He is an instinctual painter with multiple influences. His style characterized by rapid gestures depicts an intense appreciation of the abstract expressionists primarily of the New York School. He has traveled extensively through France, Italy and Spain studying the work of many European artists including the works of Miro, Picasso and Dali.
